Frequently Asked Questions

Our Products

Q: How are your shirts printed?

A:
We use Direct To Garment (DTG) digital printing, a process in which non-toxic, water-based, textile inks print directly onto the apparel. Digital printing is similar to screenprinting in both look and quality, but has several advantages/benefits:

-Digital printing is a one-off printing process. It doesn't require screens, involved setup, or minimums like screenprinting. This means we can offer you a potentially unlimited number of full color designs on a wide array of different shirt styles, colors, and sizes.
-Digital printing uses water-based inks for a durable print with a soft feel. Traditional screenprinted shirts can feel stiff and plasticy, and can crack or peel with age/wear.
-Digital printing is the more environmentally friendly process and finished product. The screenprinting process uses PVC plastisol inks, petroleum-based solvents, heavy metals, and other toxic chemicals. And plastisol inks can continue to off-gas when exposed to heat (like the heat inside your clothes dryer).

We've chosen to partner with Spreadshirt, one of the largest on-demand t-shirt printing companies in the US, to print all OneHorseShy apparel. Spreadshirt's digital printing is done by trained staff on top of the line, commercial-grade, DTG equipment that undergoes regular professional maintenance and testing. You can expect a high quality product.

Q: What brands do you use?

A:
We offer men's/unisex shirts by American Apparel, Gildan, and Fruit of the Loom; women's shirts by American Apparel, Bella, and Gildan; kids' apparel by Rabbit Skins, LAT's, and Anvil; and adult hoodies by Hanes and Fruit of the Loom.

Q: Yuck, I hate American Apparel. That dude is a pervert and their shirts are ridiculously tiny. Why do you carry them?

A:
Yes, Dov Charney is gross. Yes, their women's sizing runs very small. But on the other hand, American Apparel is currently our best choice for a premium quality, made in the USA t-shirt that's not cost-prohibitive. And many customers specifically seek out the American Apparel brand. We understand the love/hate relationship with American Apparel, so we've clearly marked all of our American Apparel products. You can choose it or avoid it, as you wish.

Q: What about those other brands, are they made in sweatshops? How do I know your children's items are compliant with CPSIA regulations?

A:
You can find an overview of all brands and materials used, including links to fair labor standards, environmental policies, all apparel and material certifications, official seals and codices, right here.

Q: I don't know what size to order? How do your shirts fit?

A:
Please consult the product details and size chart provided on every shirt page. There, you'll find specific size measurements in inches, as well as details of that style's particular fit, and even model photographs to help you to better gauge fit.

Our women's apparel is divided into two fit groups: girly and women's. Shirts marked "Girly" are a slim, contoured, form-fitting style. Shirts marked "Women's" are a relaxed, more traditionally loose-cut, boxy style. Our girly styles run quite small, much smaller than the women's style shirts. There's about a two-size discrepancy between these styles (meaning that a girly shirt in size large is similar to a women's shirt in size small). Please pay special attention to measurements provided in the size charts when ordering these styles.

Q: What happened to that shirt you used to sell? I can't find it anymore. And what happened to all the other things you used to sell? Buttons? Stickers? Tote bags? I want those too, not just shirts.

A:
We recently upgraded to a new printing service (we used to use Cafepress, but now we use Spreadshirt to print all of our shirts). It's been a huge undertaking, and not every design has made the switch over to the new system yet. But we're still working on it! If the specific t-shirt you're looking for is currently missing from our lineup, please contact us and we'll bump it to the top of the list. In most cases, we can get the design up & ready for you to buy in 1-2 days.

Buttons, stickers, greeting cards, mugs and tote bags will all be back soon!

Our Designs

Q: Who makes all your designs? Do you buy designs/ideas? Will you hire me?

A:
I make every single design myself (more about OneHorseShy here). We don't buy ideas, existing designs, or hire designers. It's just not in our budget. But mostly, it's because designing is the best part of running a t-shirt business, so I don't want to outsource it. There's already tons of other t-shirt sites where you can submit your designs for money, or set up your own shirts for sale.

But if you've got an idea that you think would be a great fit for OneHorseShy and want to share it out of the goodness of your heart, then feel free!

Q: You say you "pander to everyone" but you totally don't, you big liar!

A:
"We pander to everyone" is a relative statement, as it would be impossible to pander to literally every viewpoint, but we do try our best to cover the spectrum. All OneHorseShy designs are made by me and there's only so much time in the day! I choose what designs to make based on popular opinion and trends, to fill voids in our current lineup, and a whole host of other reasons. But mainly I choose to make designs that I think people will buy. OneHorseShy is a business, not a soapbox for our own political/social agendas. We hope our shirts provide people with a fun & easy way to express themselves and their views to the world, so please don't assume you know what we believe.

Besides, it's not like pandering is a good thing! The "We pander to everyone" tagline really is just meant to be sarcastic and self-mocking. So when we get yelled at for not pandering enough... well, that's kind of funny.

Q: I'm offended by one of your designs and I have all of this rage bottled up inside that I'd like to unleash on you. Where can I send my complaint?

A:
I'm genuinely sorry we offended you. We try to keep things light-hearted and all in good fun. Honestly, I think our designs are pretty mild. But if you need to rant, then please have at it!

Q: Can I copy your images and use them for my own purpose?

A:
As long as you credit us & link back, we're cool with you posting an image or two on your blog. But our stuff is not clipart. Don't just take our images to decorate your website, or to use as your forum avatar or any other online identity, or for any other purpose that is uncredited and not linked back to OneHorseShy.com.

You are certainly not allowed to use or modify our images for any commercial purpose. You're an adult, you know right from wrong. We've worked really hard on this stuff and stealing it is just plain mean.

Read more about OneHorseShy's image usage, copyright, and intellectual property policies, or direct your questions here.

Q: Can you change/customize one of your designs to say "______" for me? Can you make a design just for me?

A:
Yes, we can customize one of our existing designs for you (add/change text, change colors, change design placement, that type of thing), although we do reserve the right to refuse any customization deemed offensive or in bad taste. Depending on the complexity of the customization, we may charge a small deposit upfront, which is completely refundable once you purchase the custom item(s). Beyond that, there is no extra fee or increased price for customization. There's usually a 2 day turnaround from the time of request/deposit, to the time the customized design is created and ready for you to purchase on our site.

As far as totally custom/just for you/made from scratch, then the answer is probably no. All of OneHorseShy's designs are made by me (and only me!), so making a totally custom design for one single shirt is just not do-able, timewise. However, the answer could possibly be yes if you'd like a custom design for your group/organization to buy on a large quantity of items; or that the design would be so awesome, it could be added to our site and other customers (besides you) might buy it too! In any case, please feel free to contact us with your customization requests and/or questions.

How To Buy Stuff

Q: What forms of payment to you take?

A:
We accept Visa, Mastercard, Diner's Club, American Express and PayPal. We also take debit and check cards as long as they are associated with a major credit company.

Payment with check or money order is also an option. Check orders must be drawn in US funds from a US bank and will not begin processing until your payment arrives. All checks received will be converted to ACH (Automated Clearing House) transactions and will be debited from your account. This process may take up to 5 business days. Please note we do not accept starter checks.

Once payment has been received, your order will be sent to production.

Q: Do I have to pay sales tax on my order?

A:
No, you do not have to pay sales tax on orders shipped within the US. For buyers outside of the US, please be aware that your purchase may be subject to customs fees and/or taxes upon arrival.

Q: Is your checkout process secure? I don't want my personal information stolen!

A:
Yes. In order to insure the safety of your payment transactions, Spreadshirt uses the SSL (Secure Socket Layer) certificate from Equifax to encrypt all transmitted data. Your personal data is kept confidential. Spreadshirt saves your data exclusively for processing your order. No data will be transmitted to or saved by third parties. Read the entire privacy & data protection policy here.

Shipping

Q: How much does shipping cost?

A:
US shipping starts at $4.50 for orders under $50. Please be sure to check the OneHorseShy Coupon page for details on our current free shipping offer!

You can find all shipping costs and options here.

Q: I want it now! How fast can I get my stuff?

A:
Orders are printed & shipped out within 1-2 business days. Our merchandise is only printed once it's been ordered, so please remember to factor in this production time when choosing your shipping option.

Standard US shipping can take an additional 1-7 business days to reach you. We also offer expedited shipping options, including 3 Day Select, Next Day Air Saver, and UPS International Premium. With Next Day Air, you will receive your order the next business day after it has shipped (the earliest shipping date for the order is displayed at checkout when you choose this option).

Q: Where do your shirts ship from?

A:
The production facility is located in Greensburg, PA. Please view this map for more detailed delivery times per state.

Q: Do you ship outside of the USA?

A:
Yes, we ship internationally to almost 30 countries around the world! Shipping rates to Canada start at $6.99 USD, overseas rates start at $12.99 USD. All international shipping costs and information can be found here.

For buyers outside of the US, please be aware that your purchase may be subject to additional fees upon arrival. We have no control over any import duties, taxes, customs restrictions, or other regulations that apply to packages arriving in your country from the US.

Your Order

Q: I never got a confirmation email. Did my order go through?

A:
A confirmation email is sent within minutes after an order is placed. If you did not receive this confirmation, it is most likely due to an error in your email address (like a typo), an overeager email spam filter (be sure to add *@spreadshirt.com to your email whitelist), or a technical problem with the order process.

You can log in here to check on your order information. If you are unable to log in or see a problem with your information, then please contact Spreadshirt Customer Service directly.

Call Spreadshirt toll free: 1-800-381-0815 Monday-Friday 8am-8pm ET

If you don't have an order number, be sure to provide the order date, and the full name, email address and street address used in the order.

Q: How can I check the status of my order?

A:
You can log in here anytime to view your order status. Your password can be found in your order confirmation email or by using the Forgot Password tool on the login page.

Q: I made a mistake! Can I change or cancel my order?

A:
Yes, a new order can be changed/cancelled if the production process has not yet begun. Please call Spreadshirt directly at 1-800-381-0815 Monday-Friday 8am-8pm ET. If it's outside of normal business hours, then you must cancel your existing order and place a new one with the correct information. To do this, log in here. If your order is labeled “wait” or “new”, you will be able to cancel the order. Otherwise, it will automatically begin production the following morning.

Please note that once an order begins production, you can no longer make any changes and we cannot stop the shipment of your order.

Q: Where's my stuff?! I've been waiting forever and it hasn't come yet!

A:
After your order has been shipped, you will receive an email confirming the shipment. If you feel that your order has not been received in the proper timeframe or if your UPS Tracking information shows that your order was delivered but you did not receive it, please contact Spreadshirt Customer Service directly.

For customers outside of the US, please note that international delivery may take up to several weeks to arrive. Packages can be delayed because of customs fees/taxes due, so please be sure to check with your local authorities.

Returns

Q: How can I return/exchange something?

A:
Buying clothing online can be tricky, that's why we stand behind every order. OneHorseShy operates in partnership with Spreadshirt, the most respected on-demand t-shirt printing company in the US. Should a mistake arise, we kindly ask that you contact Spreadshirt within 30 days to coordinate a replacement, exchange or refund. Every product is printed just for you by Spreadshirt. Because they are custom made, returned goods cannot be resold and are either donated or thrown away.

Please contact Spreadshirt Customer Service directly, include your order number and a detailed explanation of the problem.

Spreadshirt Guarantee The Spreadshirt Fair Returns Promise: If we make a mistake, we will send you a replacement or refund your money. If you make a mistake with your order, call us and we will see what we can reasonably do to help you get the shirt you want.

The OneHorseShy Addendum: We appreciate when you contact us directly as well. As Spreadshirt is the vendor and our merchandise drop-ships, we're not privy to the ins & outs of every order. Hearing from customers about issues with printing, sizing, shipping, etc., helps us to reevaluate our product line and continue to provide quality merchandise. We'll do our best to assist in any problem resolution if necessary, however OneHorseShy accepts no responsibility or liability for your dealings with Spreadshirt (that's just necessary legalspeak, Spreadshirt is a very nice and reasonable company with excellent customer service).

Wholesale

Q: I want to buy a lot of stuff! Do you have a wholesale price list? Do you do bulk discounts?

A:
We use an on-demand printing service to make all of our merchandise (meaning nothing gets printed until it's actually ordered), so we don't carry stock like a normal store. Yes, we do wholesale pricing but we don't have a set price list. It all depends on the quantity and/or the particular items you want, since any wholesale order is essentially a custom order for us.

The kinds of wholesale orders we can do are:
Large orders made up of large quantities of one design on one item type
For example: 50 shirts total, all Pop Art Vote design, all men's American Apparel brand t-shirt, color red, size large.

The kinds of wholesale orders we can't do are:
Large orders made up of small quantities of lots of different items or designs
For example: 50 shirts total, but 25 Pop Art Vote in mix of styles/colors/sizes, 10 Guess What Chicken Butt in mix of styles/colors/sizes, 15 Classic I'm With Stupid in mix of styles/colors/sizes.

Please contact us for a quote. Be as specific as possible: include quantity, product type, size, design name, and the date you'd need delivery.

Etc.

Q: I'm old-timey, won't you please deliver to my postal letter box a paper catalog of goods? What is the location of this OneHorseShy Shoppe in which you peddle your wares? I wish to pay you a visit and peruse said wares in person.

A:
Sorry, we're online only! Print catalogs and brick & mortar storefronts are so last century.

Q: Do you have an affiliate program?

A:
Not at this time, no.

Q: Send me a free shirt and I'll post about OneHorseShy on my blog/facebook/twitter. Several dozen people follow me. You heard me right, I said dozens of followers (and that's not even counting my mom)! You can't buy publicity like that!

Or: Send me free shirts and I'll wear them around my college campus. I have a natural, god-given talent for human billboard-ness. So of course, everyone will want to buy OneHorseShy stuff just because they see me wearing it.

Or any other variation of: I want free stuff for no good reason. Gimme!

A:
No.
